Bell Pepper Plant – Crisp, Colorful & Easy to Grow

Add vibrant flavor and color to your garden with our bell pepper plants! These versatile, warm-season vegetables produce thick-walled, sweet peppers perfect for salads, roasting, grilling, and stuffing. Bell peppers start out green and can mature to red. Ideal for garden beds or containers, they’re a must-have for any home vegetable garden.

Our bell pepper plants come in a 3" square pot, fully hardened off and ready to be planted directly into your garden. These sun-loving plants thrive with warmth, consistent care, and a little attention. Below is everything you need to know to grow healthy, productive pepper plants.

Sunlight- peppers need full sun- at least 6-8 hours daily.

Use well-draining, nutrient-rich soil with lots of organic matter. Add compost or aged manure before planting for strong growth.

Space plants 18-24 inches apart in rows that are 24-36 inches apart. Plant deep enough to cover the base of the stem- this encourages strong roods.

Use stakes or cages to support the plants as they grow.

Keep soil evenly moist, but not soggy. Deep water 1-2 inches per week, depending on the weather. Mulch helps retain moisture and suppress weeds.

Use a balanced fertilizer or one slightly higher in phosphorus (middle number) but be sure to avoid too much nitrogen as it could lead to lots of leaves but few peppers.

When harvesting, pick when peppers are firm and glossy, starting green but maturing to red.

Early picking encourages more fruit production. Use scissors or pruners, don't pull, as that may damage the plant.

Extra tip- to prevent blossom-end rot, be sure to have consistent watering and adequate calcium.

Pinch the first few flowers that appear when your pepper is still small (under 12-18 inches tall). This encourages the plant to focus on root and leaf development early on, rather than fruiting too soon. Stronger roots and foliage mean larger, healthier plants that produce more peppers throughout the season.
